Step Fruit pods are long interesting seed pod of the Delonix regia tree found across tropical Asia. When dried, these unique woody pods make great additions to natural bioactive enclosures and blackwater and biotope aquascapes on the botanical method. Isopods and springtails enjoy colonizing step fruit, and our dart frogs will use them as a ramp to climb to the top of cork bark.

Aquarium Preparation

Boil: Boil for at least 15 minutes to help them sink and leach initial tannins.

Soak: Soak in clean water overnight or longer, changing water daily, until fully waterlogged and desired tannin level is reached.
