Coconut shell halves are half of a coconut with the fiber with no door cut out. Some may have a small hole on the end where the three indentations are on the top of whole coconuts, but otherwise, it is a solid half shell. These coconuts are from the Cocos nucifera tree. These coconut shells are durable, and they can be used for craft projects, aquariums, bird toys, and terrariums. In aquariums and terrariums, inhabitants can use the shell as hides or as a water bowl. Birds also enjoy using toys made with coconut shells.

Aquarium Preparation

Boil: Boil for at least 15 minutes to help them sink and leach initial tannins.

Soak: Soak in clean water overnight or longer, changing water daily, until fully waterlogged and desired tannin level is reached.

Ready to Use: Once they sink and you've achieved your desired water coloration, add to your tank.
